![]() ![]() In 2005, they released their second platinum album Phobia. The album peaked at #20 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified platinum. They collaborated with Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan on writing their songs “Rain”, “Forget It”, and “Follow”. In 2004, their sophomore album We Are Not Alone was released. “Thanks to Benjamin for breaking my fucking mic!” The band continuously was misnamed as Planet 9 and drove them to change their name to Breaking Benjamin (Which was the name of Ben’s previous band.) The name originates from an incident in which Ben accidentally dropped the mic, and the sound man yelled The band was originally named Plan 9, which is a reference to the 1959 film Plan 9 from Outer Space. The band was formed in 1999 by lead singer Ben Burnley and former drummer Jeremy Hummel. If you take anything from that song, it should be that woman are terrifyingly powerful and to be weary of them.Breaking Benjamin is a rock band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Its an endless cycle man, and honestly most women do really do this, and not because they are evil, its just because men are to stupid to stop them from doing this to them. And once she gets what she wants she disposes the man and the man is left to find someone else to love. The woman is a seductress who pulls in the man with desire, and then when the man wants the woman, she merely keeps him at bay so she can use the man to get what she wants. ![]() The man being the protagonist and the woman being the antagonist. The diary of jane is the epic story of man and woman. So now that ive told you all that, heres what i think the true meaning of this song is. And all he finds when he gets close is more misery because theres no love, its all fake, and he wishes to know why he keeps doing this to himself over and over again. Here the singer is very clearly stating how much he will do and the time he will forfeit just to find love from anyone at all. "Desperate I will crawl Waiting for so long No love, there's no love Die for anyone What have I become?" Okay so lets skip to the last little verse in the song, its more of a breakdown honestly, but here: Which is why the singer asks, "would you like that?". But hes playing the woman's game, and that is why he will never win, because its her book, and she gets to decide what happens, and unless she is feeling generous then the man will fail everytime, simply because the woman finds it entertaining. The imagery this is suppose to present is a man throwing himself into the fray over and over again, trying to grovel his way to the prize of winning over a woman. In the first chorus if you notice the biggest thing about the song, which is the title and the most noticeable lyrics, In The Diary Of Jane, and he even says he will try to find his place in it. Something I want you to pay attention to is how hes basically playing someone elses game(janes) and trying to get her to let him win.įirst chorus: "Something's getting in the way Something's just about to break I will try to find my place In the diary of Jane So, tell me How it should be?" Okay, now pay attention to what he says, hes saying that if he had to put himself next to "her", he would, and if he doesn't mind if their love is draining away, he just wants her to be honest. "If I had to I would put myself right beside you So let me ask you, Would ya like that? Would ya like that? And I don't mind If you say This love is the last time So now I'll ask, Do ya like that? Do ya like that? No" So anyway, heres what I think about the first verse: So for diary of jane by breaking benjamin, along with many of their other songs, I think its very clear what the lead singer is saying within his lyrics. Although music is subjective and we can all find our own meaning, I think we can all agree when people write a song they normally have one interpretation in mind. I feel as if most people misinterpret the lyrics as well as the band and other bands like Breaking Benjamin. ![]()
